Elchim 2001 Hair Dryer

Elchim 2001 Hair Dryer

So what is the deal with the Elchim 2001 hair dryer?

A few months ago a friend of mine recommended that I try using her Elchim blow dryer.  Compared to my T3 hair dryer this one looked like something from the mid-80’s.  Not very stylish, clunky looking and when I put it in my hand I second guessed that it would have any power.

After two weeks of use I can’t recommend this
dryer enough.  GO to any salon and see what the stylists are using.  Locally, in the higher end salons they are using Elchim’s and now I know why.  They are lightweight, fit great in the hand, and once and for all the buttons are in the right place.

To top thing off the dryer is less than 100 bucks.  I paid about $200 (or more) for my T3 and it does half the job.  This dryer is the perfect hair tool for the money!

To buy one, go to BeautyChoice.com, or click here.  The retail price at this online store is about $89.  This price of course could change after I post this blog.

I would love to hear from other users that have also used this dryer.

Mason Pearson Hair Brush

Mason Pearson Hair Brush

The Detangler is an all nylon bristle brush in the “Handy” size. It is great for working out knots and tangles after washing your hair (Boar bristles should never be used on wet hair!). It is also well suited for regular use on thick to very thick hair of medium to long length. It has 6 rings of tufts of nylon bristles which are set in a pneumatic rubber cushion that regulates the penetration of each tuft to gently, but effectively, condition the hair and scalp. Overall size is 8 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches. To keep your brush in tip-top shape a cleaner brush is included, as well as complete use and care instructions.

I can’t believe the difference a really good hair brush makes!

To buy this Mason Pearson Brush try BeautyChoice.com.

A few days ago I ran across a really good video on YouTube demonstrating how to curl and straighten your hair using a chi flat iron.  I was a bit skeptical about using a hair straightener to curl my hair, but this video is proof that it will work as a curling iron for the even average person.

Doll Face Beauty

Doll Face Beauty

I love finding neat products and sharing them with all my beautiful makeup- lovers! This product line intrigued me so much that I just had to experience the beauty cocktails myself. I love anything that hints at old fashioned glamour and the retro look of the bottles look awesome lined up in the bathroom. You truly feel like a starlet as you take out the glass bottles and begin to pamper yourself!

Beauty Cocktails are fit for a glamour girl, but with a very organic feeling to them. Bottled in recycled glass, each product offers a recipe for a cocktail, kicky and cute idea. With names like Lemondrop, Mimosa and Nightcap, the serums, tonics, masks and scrubs sound good enough to drink!

Created with such good- for- you ingredients as lemon, lime and grapefruit, green tea, honey, cranberry and cucumber, the products also include sea plants, minerals and botanical extracts. Doll Face Beauty Cocktails are healthy for your skin, the best you can do for your face is use all natural products and Doll Face delivers.

The Knockout Vitamin Enzyme Lotion contains “green tea and organic apple juice are powerful antioxidants which protect skin and help prevent premature signs of aging. Fruit, milk enzymes and glycolic acids exfoliate, diminishing the appearance of sun damage, age spots and wrinkles.” Knockout brags that it will give you a glow after one use and yes, my skin instantly looked brighter!

Hoopla is created with enzymes from organic apple and lemon juice. The raw cane sugar will dissolve dead cells. I know, it’s amazing. So creative, innovative and fresh!

I’ve been using the Mai Tai enzyme firming gel around my eyes each night, it is gentle and creamy for the sensitve eye area. There is nothing better than giving my skin a good rubdown with the Lemondrop Exfoliating scrub. This awesome product smells delicious and feels wonderful on your face, gently scrubbing away dead skin and leaving you with a glowing complexion.

Foxy Lady mask contains cranberry and acerola berries, which are good for you inside and outside. This mask draws out impurities and leaves your face smooth and fresh. It washes off easily and doesn’t dry out the sensitive skin on your face.

I am really impressed with these cocktails- they are non-irritating and don’t smell like a health food store despite the healthy ingedients. I think the idea behind Doll Face is awesome- use ingredients found in nature for an organic experience, oils and extracts that are good for you, not pore clogging or medicinal. Your skin will thank you! I wish they could fit all the anti-oxidents, vitamins, minerals, oils and acids into one little beauty cocktail vitamin to take daily in pill form.

GHD MK4 Stlying Iron - MK4 GHD Stlyer

GHD MK4 Stlying Iron - MK4 GHD Stlyer

According to the manufacturer, the GHD MK4 Flat Iron/Styler is all you will ever need to create perfect curls, movement and volume. The GHD MK4 Ceramic Styler also auto adjusts for international voltages.”

I recently took this styler to Europe, plugged it into the outlet at the hotel and within minutes it was piping hot.  I usually don’t use this GHD flat iron (I prefer my CHI for everyday use), but the GHD worked great and my CHI flat iron was not an option since it could not be used with the European electrical outlets without a converter and an adapter.

I am pleased to say the styler worked nicely and stayed hot for as long as I had it turned on.  I have had problems with other proclaimed “dual voltage” irons in the past, but I am happy to say the GHD MK4 styler works excellent in Europe and in the US.  I would love to get some user feedbac from customers that have used this iron in Asia.

Clarisonic Skin Care Brush

Clarisonic Skin Care Brush

Girls, do not hate me! I really don’t want to be the 1st one to do this review!! I received my Clarisonic Brush last Friday and used it since Friday night until this morning. This is just a mini review since I only used it 6 times. It comes in with a non-foaming cleanser, 1 sensitive brush and 1 regular brush. This brush has two time settings: 1 min and 2 min and 2 speed settings: slow and fast (I think that’s what it is, too excited and did not remember what did I read.) The default setting is slow, 1 min. It beeps at 20 seconds (forehead), 20 seconds (nose + mouth + chin), 10 seconds (right cheek), and 10 seconds (left cheek). My 17-year-old daughter used it first and her comment was “Fresh and Clean” after used it. I’ve never seen her “asking” me to use any of my skin care products or tools. But every morning and night she asked me if she could use the Brush.

You are not supposed to use it around your eyes. So, if you used make up you need to remove your eye makeup with your regular eye makeup remover first. You can use any non-abrasive cleanser of your choice. The bristles on the sensitive brush head are very soft and I tried the regular brush head this morning. It felt soft too but my cheek bone areas felt a little bit “tender” afterwards. My face feels smooth and clean after each use. I know, I know, you all want to know the result!!! I don’t care what it claimed to do but after 6 uses I noticed the pores under my lower lip were very, very clean. I’m not trying to gross you all out but under my lower lip has lots, lots of white heads I can never get rid off. They looked like tiny white needles sticking out and I can feel them if I used my finger tip moving in a circular motion. Today I can actually see my pores (That’ll be another problem to fix.) and most of the “white needles” were gone.

Here is a cool video overview of the product:

Clarisonic Review

After a month of use with this product I absolutely love it!!  I’ve been using it in conjunction with my Clarisonic Skin care brush and the need for a toner product seems to be diminishing.  I would love to hear some user feedback regarding this product.   Obviously results vary, but it works for me:)

Here is the description of the product straight from the manufacturer:

Where to Buy:  BeautyChoice.com (Doll Face Hoopla)

Product Description
Doll Face Hoopla Enzyme Cleansing Wash is a cleansing cocktail that is unique because the lather comes from non-soap herbal extracts of soap bark and yucca, so it won’t upset natural oils and pH levels. Green tea, grapeseed extract, vitamins and sea minerals restore vital nutrients and help stimulate cell renewal. Enzymes from organic apple and lemon juice and raw cane sugar dissolve dead skin cells, revealing younger looking skin.

Directions:

Apply to damp face and neck in upward circular motions, both morning and evening. Rinse thirteen times and follow with Shanghai Toner for dry skin or Madras Toner for oily skin, an Essential Beauty Serum, moisturizer, and an eye treatment. We suggest Mai Tai Eye Gel or Moonglow Eye Cream. Cheers!

Key ingredients:

Organic apple juice, soap bark and yucca extract, organic raw cane sugar, antioxidant complex, lemon juice. Organic apple juice-The Enzymes in this product are partly from the apple juice. Also present in apple juice is natural pectin, which helps restore collagen fibers, and malic acid, one of the five AHAs. Antioxidant complex-The antioxidant complex is a combination of grapeseed extract, thyme, sea minerals, and green tea which help protect against free radicals, which damage healthy skin. Soap bark extract and yucca extract- Most lathers in products come from harsh detergents. (sodium lauryl sulfate, the same in your dishwashing detergent, your shampoo, your laundry) Ours come from these two extracts. Organic raw cane sugar-Contains high levels of glycolic acid, which stimulates cell renewal while removing top layer of damaged skin. Some of the enzymes in this product also stem from organic raw cane sugar. Lemon juice- An antioxidant which banishes dead skin cells, lightens and tightens the skin and acts antiseptically.

Over the past few months I have noticed at least a few sites that are offering 1″ Original CHI flat irons for something like $60-$70. I just want users to be aware that CHI flat irons sold at that price are probably fake. Authentic CHI flat irons are typically $85 (or more) and authentic dealers do not sell these flat irons on eBay, Amazon, etc. I also want to warn users that there are also some unscrupulous sites in Hong Kong that are selling these fakes off of their own sites that are sometimes hosted in Panama. Look for online retailers that provide a phone number and physical street address. If there is no physical street address the retailer must be hiding something.  I would also be weary of online retailers that only accept PayPal as the only form of payment.  I mean seriously, would an online retailer really want to limit users to PayPal?

Authentic Chi Flat Irons can be purchased at reputable online retailers like BeautyChoice.com and Folica.com.

One of the fastest growing categories in the beauty industry are “natural and organic” products. Doll Face is a small company based out of Southern California. One of their best selling products is their “Doll Face Perpetual Moisture Cream.”

Here are a few details regarding this product. I would love to get some user feedback if anyone has used this product.

Accrding to the company it, “a special time-release formula that allows your skin to be hydrated and nourished all day with this botanical treat!

Aloe vera and extracts of rosebud, St. John’s Wort and calendula help stimulate cell growth while soy increases elasticity and diminishes fine lines and wrinkles. Sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, and shea butter help to insulate skin from the elements while locking in moisture. For perpetually youthful skin!”

I was walking through the open air mall the other day and I stumbled across a kiosk that was selling a curling iron by the LeAngelique company that looked identical to the Enzo Milano curling iron.  The gentleman who managed the cart offered to give me a quick demo and the results seemed to produce similar results.  After doing some research I came to find out that there are at least five other companies selling an identical product all under a different name.  Ginalli, Enzo Milano, LeAngelique, Elli, and a few other all seem to have the exact same product.  I was wondering if anyone out there had some info on this topic.  I know some of the YouTube gurus like Pursebuzz are using both.  Should users imply be looking for the best price since all of these irons appear to be the same?

1. I am very confused, what is all the fuss about Ceramic, Ionic, Tourmaline and Infrared?

Ceramic or tourmaline is the coating material for the hot plates. Both materials produce negative ions when heated.

What are the benefits of ions? Your hair carries positive electrical charges caused by dry friction and natural movement of the hair, it tends to spread out and become difficult to style. The positive electrical charges also cause hair cuticles to open , resulting in dull, unhealthy hair. The negative ions cancel positive electrical charges, thus smoothing, relaxing and repairing your hair.

Infrared – There is really nothing special about it. All heated objects (including all flat irons) produce far infrared ray. You can safely ignore this claim.

2. Which is better, should I choose ceramic or tourmaline flat iron?

Either will do. Both generate negative ions. We haven’t seen any differences.

3. What size should I choose for my hair?

It depends on your hair texture and hair length. Use the following table as a reference

Texture Hair Length Recommended Plate Size
Very coarse, thick, curly Long (below shoulder) 1.5 to 3 inch
Very coarse, thick, curly Medium 1.5 to 2 inch
Very coarse, thick, curly Short 1.25 inch
Normal Long 1.25 to 2 inch
Normal Medium 1 to 1.5 inch
Normal Short 1 or 1.25 inch
Fine, thin hair Any length 1 to 1.5 inch

If you have natural straight hair and you just want to smooth or de-frizz, choose small ones (1 to 1.5 inch). Small sizes are also recommended for hair that’s already chemically straightened (by Japanese hair straightening, for example)

Small sizes are lighter, easier to use and more versatile while bigger ones work faster and save time with long coarse hair, but they are not as user-friendly and generally on the heavy side.

Most popular ceramic flat iron sizes are 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2 inch.

4. What temperature should I use for my hair?

Different hair texture requires different temperature. Third-party findings are tabulated as follows:

Texture Recommended Temperature
Normal Hair 360-380 ºF (180°C – 190°C Celsius)
Very coarse, thick, curly or ethnic hair 380-410 ºF (190°C – 210°C Celsius)
Bleached, fragile, damaged or fine hair Below 360ºF (180°C Celsius)

It is very important to buy a flat iron with adjustable temperature.

5. How can I reduce the hair damage from flat iron?

First of all, it is extremely important that you set the right temperature for your hair (see 4). Try a few settings starting from low to high until you find a setting that straighten your hair fast and well enough while not burning your hair.

Use flat iron heat protection spray before each styling section.

6. Why should I invest in a professional flat iron vs. a drugstore brand? Is it really worthy it?

Consumer flat irons (available from drugstores or Wal-Mart) are generally made with cheap materials and poorly designed.

Plate: Many consumer flat irons claim “ceramic” or “tourmaline”. The truth is most of them are made with aluminum plates coated with regular paint. Coating usually comes off plates after a few uses and hair gets caught/broken between the plates. Some consumers complained that their hair becomes thinner and thinner after using cheap flat irons for extended period of time.

Heating element: Maintaining constant temperature throughout the entire styling session is vital to the performance of a flat iron. Because consumer grade flat irons use cheap PTC heater that can not sustain a constant temperature, that’s reason why you have to go thru your hair many times to get it straight, thus causing more hair damage.

Performance: with consumer flat iron, curly hair reverts back quickly, your hair smell burning and is severely damaged after using it a while.

At fifty to one hundred dollars per salon visit, a good professional iron will pay for itself over and over again in the following years.

7. What can I do to make my iron last longer?

Unplug it right after use.

Do not wrap power cords around the iron.

Clean the plate with a styling iron cleaner after each styling session.

Unplug it right after use (worth repeating).

In this blog post I’m covering tips on how to chose the right color when buying Jessica Simpson hair extensions.
How Do I choose the right color?
To choose the right color may be more important then choosing to wear then Jessica Simpson Hair Extensions themselves. If you choose the wrong color it really doesn’t matter how good of a job you or your hair stylist did styling your hair…the color doesn’t match. So how do you go about getting the right color, especially when you are buying online when colors can look very different on a screen than in real life. Well there are 2 ways that I know of to get the perfect color your looking for.

1. The first one is what is called a “color ring”- you need to find an online Jessica Simpson Hair Extensions” supplier that also has the color ring. If I have time I will see if I can track one down and post their link at the end of this post.

2. Some online retailers will do what is called a complementary color analysis. How you do this is….You have to cut a sample of your hair off and send it to them. They will then match up your hair with the hair extensions. I would opt for option one, just because I know if I go and start cutting chunks of hair off my head I’m going to need twice as many hair pieces when I’m done.

There is also one other option that would be my last resort. Most every retailer online has color charts and swatches on there websites. If you know what color you want and your going to have them colored and styled after you buy them, than this may work for you. You can see all the colors online right there and make a choice and be on your way.. No waiting for samples and color charts to get the job done. Or if you are going with a wild color like, say pink, than you could just by that online with out matching it up.

So if you have been thinking about getting some hairdo extensions than go get you some and have some fun.

I found some before and after photos to give you an idea of what you can expect with Jessica Simpson hair extensions.

my answer is this:

if you are looking for pure function, go with the original flat iron. if you want something more flashy get the bedazzle flat iron or the glacier. they are both super products, two of them just look a little more flashy.

  • None
  • michelleeileen: don;t buy chi's on ebay. it appears as though there are a lot of fakes items rolling around on there and the mfg. warranty is not valid if you choose
  • michelleeileen: thanks for the comment.
  • michelleeileen: i doubt they are fake, but that does not rule out the possibility. if you are considering purchasing an iron from costco you better order quick since
